First Particle (Video/Action for Rockets)
[Action for Rocket HQ]
[He hasn't changed out of the outfit that he arrived in, a blood red Howie coat with a pair of goggles pushed up on top of his head for now, black leather gloves, black pants and black rubber boots, but he's decided to explore his new surroundings because this...
This is weird.
...This is definitely not the Evil League of Evil. There's a Rotom floating in the air around him, letting out impatient staticky hums every now and again. He doesn't seem to be listening to whatever it's trying to tell him, though.]
Yeah, I know, I read the manual. [BZZT!! Bzz bzzz!!!] It said wear the uniform for official business, and last I checked walking around isn't exactly "official" anything.
[When the feed connects, the man on the other end blinks hard a couple of times and glances to either side before turning his attention to the 'Gear. The space behind him is a bland, sterile white wall, and he's wearing a hoodie zipped up over a black shirt.]
So, I- I have a question about how people name these, uh… Pokemon...things. Wasn't there some kind of video game with something called Pokemon? I never played many video games.
Anyway! Uh, so I was wondering if anyone ever names them after… people? Like, people they knew back-- back home. [He blinks hard again, nervously.] And I guess, if you do, why? Not why would you do that but like [He glances at something offscreen, this time more pensively and less out of the nervous twitching that he started with.] ...why did you pick that name?

[She was tempted to name her Lapras after Elsa, when it eventually hatched, but now that Elsa's here, she's probably going to end up giving it to her anyway.]
...Are you okay?

[Billy's attention snaps suddenly back to the camera, and he does that nervous squinting blink thing again.]
Me? Heh, I-I'm fine! Totally, uh, fine. What... what makes you ask?

In terms of why, I mean... s'pretty obvious. We're in a different world and people like having reminders of their old life around.
Some people, anyway.
I just got here, and there's this little fox thing that... She reminds me of someone I knew, back home.

Someone's just gonna MAKE you wear it, you know.

[Billy jolts a little when he notices the boy in the hallway, but then he adjusts his goggles atop his head.]
It's not going to be this thing. [He points his thumb at the Rotom, who buzzes again and flails its "arms" wildly.]
I'm Dr. Horrible. From the Evil League of Evil? What league are you from?

Which means that your attention is probably not so much on:
who in fact has just proceeded to do as Parker does and pop up from behind Billy like a fucking ninja, peering over his shoulder to see what he's looking at.]
Yeah, you probably shouldn't do that.

Shouldn't do what, exactly?

[Or at least not outright angry.]
Though that can easily turn against you. I once named a powerful Psychic-type after my uncle, a very wise man, only to later realize that said Pokémon was... stubbornly simple in thought. If you intend to give such a name to your Pokémon, you might want to wait a few days.
I probably will, it was just... N-nevermind, it's not important.

I didn't exactly name them after the people, but... Things that were associated with them that ended up really helping me out when those people couldn't.
I try and match them personality-wise. Maybe something they would have liked if they were here.

Like what, if you don't mind me asking?
For what you named them, I mean.

[He now has the idea to use scientists, later. He's also not making eye contact, although that's nothing really new.]

Well, I don't know about anyone else, but I named my first Pokémon Palko, after Palmon, my best friend in the world I came from! [ She smiles brightly. ] She's not really a person, though... but I think it still counts!
And why I chose the name... well, I thought she was Palmon, at first! They're about the same height, they're both green, they both have pink flowers on their heads... Things like that! So it was really a natural choice!
Anyway! I think if you're thinking about naming your Pokémon after a friend of yours, you'll be in good company, mister!
He's not the saturday morning cartoon type of villain.]
...Your friend is green?
[that's clearly the important part, here.]

[Nagi is almost surprised. You're one of the few who seems to know that, Billy.]
Do you ask because you intend to name one of your Pokemon after someone you know?
Otherwise, it doesn't really matter why.
[And it's not like the persons themselves are here to stop you from doing so. He can imagine this has something to do with this guy being sentimental over someone back home...and it's not like he can really relate, so.]
[text]
That's generally why someone would ask something like that, yeah.
["sentimental" is one way to put it.]

[Dist came across this little scene on his way toward the labs, so he has his labcoat on and ready to go. A rather large...pink jellyfish thing is not too far behind him.
Speaking of labcoats though, as Dist curiously examines this guy's getup he can't help but think, that is...certainly one you have there, sir.]
I take it you must be new.
[action]
He stops when he sees the other man, and the Rotom at his side huffs impatiently (if it had arms it would have crossed them by now). Billy, on the other hand, doesn't seem unfriendly by the sight of a labcoat, although it's a sight he hasn't really seen since college.]
Yeah, I, uh...just got here.
[action]
... There was, but the people here won't admit that. It probably breaks something in the space-time continuum, I don't know. I'm not a scientist. I never played it much.
[At the question though, he points the camera over to two bear-like Pokemon: a Teddiursa and a panda-like Pokemon. The panda-like one is laughing at something, and the Teddiursa is bonking him on the head with a paw. He turns the camera back to himself.]
I named them Marco and Rachel, after two of my friends at home. They kind of... act like them.
It wouldn't break the space-time continuum, because there's no actual way to "break" something that's just an abstract way of considering space as a single continuous construct of the four known dimensions: the three dimensions of space - X, Y, and Z for simplicity's sake - plus the fourth dimension of time. Technically, there are speculative theories that hold the possibility of ten, or even 26 dimensions, but those extra dimensions would really only make a difference on a subatomic level.
...
[...........................]
At least, I think...I heard. Once.
So you named them after your friends because they, uh, acted like them?

I've named my - POKEMON! After famous musicians that I'm fond of and someone rather special [The man groans for a moment] But that's besides the point!
As far as this world is concerned, think of it as a vortex. Where all our worlds are captured within that vortex of space and time and the bottom leading to this one. But in a world where magic and fairies exist -
...Oh right. There aren't any fairies here. Outside of that Clefairy! They do come from space. I wonder...
...You don't have a degree in any kind of science, do you.
[Because none of that made any sense.]
Re: [Video]

...well, the fact that he's chatting to his Pokemon doesn't exactly make him all that subtle.]
Lost?
[He's wearing a white labcoat with an 'R' on the side and a mildly curious expression, holding a folder to his chest. That's an interesting outfit you're wearing, there.]
[action]
In a labcoat. With a folder.
The smell of science is promising.]

[ He's been waiting for someone to mention it first, actually, given the fact some of the people he's talked to wouldn't seem to know what a video game is to begin with. ]
I haven't really named a pokemon after someone I know, though... but I guess some people do that because it reminds them of that someone.
